I was born in Edmonton on Feb. 24, 1975 and had the normal childhood I guess. Everything seemed to work out all right save the fact that I did almost nothing but doodle on the notebooks I was supposed to be using for homework in school. I started drawing waaaaaay back in the 5th grade. I was fascinated by WWII stuff and constantly drew soldiers and jeeps and planes and whatever else I could think of. It was around grade 10 that I started to take drawing a little more seriously with the help of a really cool art teacher named Mr. Wigglesworth (no kidding!). He helped me immensely because he gave me what few other teachers bothered: 'Encouragement'.
After I graduated I was a little aimless in the pursuits I wanted to try. I was in a band at the time that was affectionately named 'Massive Assult'. Like all 18 year olds, I figured that I would just continue with the band and 'make it big'...Yeah, right ;). It was around this time that I was introduced to the 'internet' and how to get my images online. I never thought any of my artwork would bee seen worldwide before that, and thus, I drew a *lot* of fantasy and weird stuff that for the most part was liked!
Its taken a lot of practice and frustration, but I've become happy with the artworks that I do. They aren't perfect, but they are what *I* like, and that should be a motto for all them artists out there that complain about how few people like their art.. Draw for yourselves, don't draw for a mass populous, because you can't please everyone ;)
Anyway, Back to your regularly scheduled surf.
Tim Johnson.
