(Tip: Try to look at the big drawing in the dark room.)

The Lutrai are a fantastic race created by "Ollie Canal". (If you hadn't visited his web page yet, you definitely should.) They are playful and somewhat naive, and live in close relation with nature.

I actually never intended to draw them. I like "Ollie"'s bright and "fluffy" pictures, but his style is too far from mine to provide any inspiration whatsoever. Then, one day, it hit me - and I produced a quick spontaneous sketch. From the first look it was sure candidate for painting. So in the next week I painted it. You'd tell me about the nature of inspiration... (I tried to contact "Ollie", of course, but he seems to be unreachable, and not only to me.)

It's interesting to note that my interpretation of Lutrai is more close to the style of "Ollie"'s stories, dark and disturbing, than to his stylized and cheerful artwork. Maybe this is how the Lutrai might look in reality. But in any case, this picture is one of those rare images I feel proud of.
